Kaya Merzlak joined Monument Dermatology in summer 2026. She brings experience in critical care, nursing education, skin health, and aesthetic medicine.
Originally from Pittsburgh, Kaya earned her undergraduate degree from the University of Pittsburgh and her Master of Science in Nursing from Duquesne University.
She began her nursing career caring for critically ill patients after complex heart and lung surgeries at UPMC Presbyterian. Education has remained an important part of her work; she has also served as adjunct faculty in undergraduate nursing programs at Duquesne and Carlow Universities.
At Monument, Kaya trained extensively under Dr. Briana Brown in the diagnosis and treatment of medical skin conditions and advanced cosmetic procedures. She provides medical, surgical, and cosmetic dermatology care, with treatment plans tailored to each patient's needs.
Kaya has completed advanced aesthetic training through the American Academy of Facial Esthetics and Allergan Medical Institute. Her training focuses on facial anatomy, injectable treatments, and natural, preventative approaches to facial aging. She enjoys the range of aesthetic medicine, from softening wrinkles and restoring facial volume to creating strategic lift and enhancing a patient's natural features.
Outside the office, Kaya enjoys reading, traveling, and trying new restaurants with her husband, Nicolas. At home, she is usually joined by her black Lab.

Supports clinical visits and coordinates patient outreach — follow-up calls, results communication, and community connections.
