How Dr. Brown practices

Patients come to Monument with the questions a dermatologist is built to answer — the spot that changed, the rash that won't quit, the itch that started six months ago, the spot a primary-care physician wants checked. Dr. Brown's approach is plain: examine the skin, name what's there, draw a plan, and follow up. Treatment plans are evidence-based — drawn from current dermatology literature and AAD guidelines, not corporate-group protocols.

Medical and surgical dermatology

Dr. Brown sees the full range of medical-derm conditions: acne, eczema, psoriasis, rosacea, hair loss, autoimmune skin disease, suspicious lesions, and skin cancers. Surgical work — biopsies, excisions, mole removal, and cancer treatment per NCCN guidelines — is performed in-office. Pathology returns within 7–10 days; the office calls with results.

Why an independent practice

Monument is not part of a health system. The schedule is built for patients, not for productivity quotas. Dr. Brown opened the practice to keep dermatology accessible — short waits, same-day appointments where the day allows, no year-out booking, no hand-offs between providers who have never met you.

Outside the clinic

Dr. Brown and her husband Michael own and operate Monument Dermatology along with Southern Dermatology and Southern Vanity Medical Spa in Augusta, Georgia and Aiken, South Carolina. Esvie Medical Spa, their cosmetic practice, shares the Monument office in Pittsburgh. They have four children. A native of the Pittsburgh area, Dr. Brown returned home to practice in the city she grew up in.
