Procedures

What we do surgically.

Skin-cancer screening

Head-to-toe examination with dermatoscope. Suspicious lesions are biopsied in the office. Pathology returns within 7–10 days; the office calls with results.

Skin-cancer excision

Treatment of basal cell carcinoma, squamous cell carcinoma, and melanoma following NCCN guidelines. Surgical excision in-office for most non-melanoma skin cancers; Mohs surgery referral when indicated by location, size, or histology.

Alternative cancer treatments

Electrodessication and curettage (ED&C), topical chemotherapy, and photodynamic therapy as alternatives to excision for selected lesions and patients.

Benign growth removal

Cysts, lipomas, dermatofibromas, and other benign growths evaluated and removed with attention to cosmetic outcome.

Mole removal

Shave or excisional removal of moles for atypia, irritation, or cosmetic concerns. Lesions removed for diagnostic purposes are sent to pathology.

Skin tag removal

Multiple techniques available — snip excision, cryotherapy, electrocautery — based on size, location, and patient preference. Larger lesions removed procedurally.

Cyst removal

Quick in-office procedure designed for patient comfort with minimal scarring. Inflamed cysts may be drained and injected first; definitive excision performed after inflammation resolves.

Biopsies

Shave, punch, and excisional biopsies for diagnostic evaluation. Tissue sent to dermatopathology; results discussed by phone or in follow-up visit.

Nail surgery

Dr. Brown has significant experience in nail surgery for both diagnosis and treatment of nail disorders and nail-unit tumors, with hundreds of procedures completed. Includes partial nail avulsion and matrix biopsy.

Surgical scar revision

Revision of suboptimal scars from prior surgery or trauma. Dr. Brown has experience in complex cases including W-plasty, Z-plasty, and serial excision.

Keloid treatment

Intralesional corticosteroid injection, cryotherapy, or surgical revision with adjuvant therapy for keloid scars.

Cryotherapy

Liquid nitrogen treatment for actinic keratoses, warts, seborrheic keratoses, and selected superficial lesions.
